Cardz 4 Galz: Shaped Card

Today's challenge at Cardz 4 Galz is to make a shaped card.  I was excited to do this one, as I made an octagonal card a few weeks ago for another challenge and have been looking forward to making another one ever since.

As the weather has been quite good recently I felt inspired to make a card with a summery theme. The image on this card is a rubber stamp that I got from a craft show a couple of months ago, and this has been my first opportunity to use it.  I coloured the image using Polychromos pencils and then used Glossy Accents on the glass.

I matted and layered the card using pink card and papers from the Paradise Crush Pad by First Edition, which I absolutely love!.  I added some die cut bunting, paper flowers and a sentiment from a Tim Holtz Ideaology pad which I think goes nicely with the cocktail image.

I hope you can join us this week at Cardz 4 Galz.

Cardz 4 Guyz: The Great Outdoors

This week's theme at Cardz 4 Guyz is The Great Outdoors.  I must admit, I was a bit stuck with what to do for this one, but when I looked through my craft stash I thought this stamp by Inkylicious would fit the theme nicely.  I created the background to the main image using Distress Inks and masking, and my main background on the card was also created using Distress Inks, with masks and water.

I added a strip of patterned paper in matching colours.

I hope you can join us this week at Cardz 4 Guyz.

Moonflower Digistamps: Spring Maiden

Good morning.  Today I am sharing a card I have made using the new Spring Maiden image by Moonflower Digistamps.  I coloured her using Polychromos pencils.

I put her in a die cut frame and layered her onto pink card and patterned papers, then added a buckle and some flower and butterfly die cuts.

Cardz 4 Guyz: Shades of Brown

Hello!  This week's challenge at Cardz 4 Guyz is Shades of Brown.

I used a stamp by Woodware for this card.  I started by stamping my image twice, once on white card and once on patterned paper.  I carefully cut around the canvas parts of the shoes on the image stamped on patterned paper (I started to regret this after about an hour of careful cutting!)  Then I stuck the cut out parts onto the white stamped image.

I layered my stamped image onto brown card and various patterned papers and stamped the sentiment onto another piece of patterned paper.  As the image is large I decided to keep the embellishments simple, so just added some brown pearls so it looks like the strip of paper underneath the image is pinned in place.

I hope you can join us this week at Cardz 4 Guyz.

Make My Monday: Embossing (Heat or Dry)

Good morning.  This week's challenge at Make My Monday is Embossing (Heat or Dry).  I have chosen to use heat embossing.

I created the main background and the panel behind  the butterfly by repeatedly stamping an image in Versamark ink and then heat embossing using a sparkly Wow! embossing powder.  I die cut the border along the bottom and the butterfly, and then embossed the butterfly using the same embossing powder I used for the background.  I mounted the butterfly onto white card and added some sparkly gems, then matted and layered everything onto purple card to match the purple tones in the embossing powder.

I hope you can join us for this week's challenge at Make My Monday.

Cardz 4 Galz: Handbags and Gladrags

Good morning!  This week's theme at Cardz 4 Galz is Handbags and Gladrags.  I used an image by Pink Gem Designs for my card, which I  coloured using Polychromos pencils.

I hand stitched around the edges of my coloured image and layered it onto pale blue card, then created more layers with patterned papers.  I wanted to keep the image as the main focus of this card, so I just added some buttons with some pink thread tied through them to match the stitching around the image.

I hope you can join us at this week's Cardz 4 Galz.

Cardz 4 Guyz: Animal Antics

It's my turn to choose the theme this week at Cardz 4 Guyz, and I have chosen the theme Animal Antics.

I have used a stamp from a set by Creative Expressions called Animal Safari.  I coloured my rhino using Polychromos pencils and stamped leaves around him with Distress Inks.  (the leaf stamsp and the silly pun are from the same stamp set).

I layered my main image onto green card and patterned papers, inking around the edges with Distress inks, and added some die cut leaves, which I also inked with Distress inks.

I hope you can join us this week at Cardz 4 Guyz.

Cardz 4 Guyz: Easter or Spring

Hello everyone!  Today's Cardz 4 Guyz challenge is Easter or spring.  I found it quite hard to do a male card for this theme, mainly because for Easter and spring I tend to think super-cute - things like fluffy bunnies and chicks - which are definitely not very masculine.

After wracking my brains I finally came up with the idea of using sheep and lambs, as I thought I could do this in a not too girly way.

I made this card using a Distress Ink sky and paper pieced the various elements, which I designed myself and cut freehand (including the sheep).  I hope you like it!

I hope you can join us this week at Make My Monday.

Make My Monday: April Showers

Good morning!  This week's challenge on Make My Monday is April Showers.  I thought this would be a great opportunity to use one of my favourite stamps.  This little guy is James Bear by Lilli of the Valley, and on this stamp he's looking a bit wet.

I coloured my image with Polychromos pencils, then layered him onto grey card and patterned papers.  I added a "Happy Birthday" sentiment and some die cut flowers.

I hope you can join in our challenge at Make My Monday.
