Cardz 4 Galz: Buttons and/or Bows

Good morning.  Today's challenge at Cardz 4 Galz is buttons and/or bows.  As you can see, I have chosen to use both on my card.  I started off by die cutting some flowers in various shades of purple.  I stuck them on my card and drew the stems using Promarkers.

I added button centres to the flowers and then ties a bow from chiffon ribbon which I stuck onto the bottom of the stems.

I hoe you can join us this week at Cards 4 Galz.

Cardz 4 Guyz: Superheroes

Good morning.  This week's theme at Cardz 4 Guyz is Superheroes.  I've used a brilliant image  from Bloobel Digi Stamps called Super Dad for my card.  You can find him here for just $1.

I coloured my image using Prismacolor pencils  and layered him onto card and patterned papers.  I embellished my card with some stars which I thought would fit the superhero theme.

I deliberately kept the colours muted on this card to fit in with my rather unconventional superhero.

I hope you can join us this week at Cardz 4 Guyz.

Bloobel Stamps: Begging Dog

Hi everyone.  I hope you've had a good weekend.  Today I've made a card using this brilliant image by Bloobel Stamps.  He's called Begging Dog and you can find him in the Bloobel shop here.  I absolutely love him and will definitely be using him again.

I coloured my image with Prismacolor pencils and layered him onto patterned papers.  I didn't want to add too much embellishment on this one as I wanted to keep the focus on the dog, so I just added a happy birthday sentiment on kraft card and a hand tied ribbon bow.

I hope you like him.

I would like to enter my card in the following challenges:

Crafty Animals
Crafty Hazelnut's Patterned Paper Challenge
Crafty Friends Challenge
Always Happy Birthday

Make My Monday: Easter Fun

Hi everyone, with Easter coming early this year and just around the corner, this week's theme at Make My Monday is Easter fun.  I used this fun image from Bloobel Digi Stamps to make my card.  It's called My Easter Eggs, and can be found here.

I coloured him with Polychromos pencils and layered him onto card and patterned paper.  To embellish my card I used a ribbon bow, some paper flowers and some eggs cut out from one of the patterned papers in the same set as the background papers.

I hope you can join us this week at Make My Monday.

Cardz 4 Galz: Beach or Nautical

Hello again.  This week's theme at Cardz 4 Galz is beach or nautical.  I used a digi stamp by Make It Crafty to make my card, which I coloured with Prismacolor pencils.  I drew in the beach background myself, also with the Prismacolors.

I layered my image onto patterned papers and coordinating card then added some die cut shells and some pearls.

I hope you can join us this week at Cardz 4 Galz.

Cardz 4 Guyz: Things with Tails

Good morning.  Today's challenge at Cardz 4 Guyz is things with tails.  It doesn't have to be an animal - you can make your project using anything at all that has a tail.  I chose this tiger because I bought the stamp a while ago and have had it hanging around on my desk waiting to be used!

I created my card using this beautiful stamp by Crafty Stamps.  I coloured him using Prismacolor pencils, and I have to admit that  before I started I had no clue how to colour a tiger!  I had to resort to Google Images for reference as to what colours went where.  I'm really pleased with how he's turned out though.  I layered my tiger onto orange card and patterned papers and then just added some simple wooden stars to embellish it.

I hope you can join us this week at Cardz 4 Guyz.

Make My Monday : Use some Silver or Gold

Good morning!  Today's challenge at Make My Monday is to use some silver or gold on your project.  I've used a lot of silver, but sadly this does not show up too well in the picture.

I decided to make a mixed media wall hanging.  Unfortunately I could not get a decent photo of the whole finished thing due to the awful weather we've been having, which has meant a lack of natural light, but I hope you can at least get an idea of what it looks like.

I've posted some close ups, and some work in progress pictures at the bottom.

I started with a  wooden heart, which I painted with white gesso and then a layer of  white acrylic paint.

Then I added some texture  using die cuts, corrugated card and some gel medium which I applied through a stencil to create the eggshell effect.  Then I gave everything another coat of white paint and added some blue while it was still wet.

Once that layer of paint was dry I added some silver paint around the edges and also some turquoise gilding wax.  I also added some silver sparkly embossing powder to the background, which I applied just by sprinkling and heating.

For the final part of my project I used some die cut butterflies and some paper flowers, which I painted to match the background.  then I added some of the silver embossing powder to the edges.  I used Versamark Ink on the edges of the flowers and the butterflies to pick up the powder and then heated it.

I stuck everything on, then added some beads to the centres of the flat flowers.  Then to finish off my project I added a loop at the top with some mixed fibres and then threaded some beads onto fibres which I hung from the bottom.

I hope you can join us this week at Make My Monday.

Cardz 4 Galz: Furry Friends

Hi everyone!  Today I am sharing my DT card for Cardz 4 Galz.  This  week's challenge is furry friends.

I've used a stamped image on my card, which is quite an old stamp by Penny Black.   I've had this one for ages, and I seem to remember getting it for next to nothing in a sale.  It's one of my favourite stamps.

I stamped my image onto kraft paper and coloured it with Prismacolor pencils, then layered it onto card and patterned papers.  As a final touch I added some paper flowers and some sticky backed pearls in the centre.  Most of my flowers started off white and I coloured them with Promarkers.  I mostly use my Promarkers for this kind of thing now, as I stopped colouring with them when they stopped making the fine tips, which I think was a real shame.

I hope you can join our challenge this week at Cardz 4 Galz.
