Encaustic Art

I had a day off last Friday, so managed to make some encaustic art ATCs.  These are the first ones I've done in a while, so I'm a bit rusty, but I think they turned out OK.

I'm off today as well, but not because I want to be!

Encaustic Art

Told you I'd been busy!  These are some encuastic art ATCs that I managed to do on Saturday morning before it got too hot in the conservatory!

I'm putting a few in my trading album (link on the right) if anyone's interested.

Encaustic Art

These are some encaustic art ATCs I did at the weekend. The purple one is on white pearlescent card and the other two are on white glossy card.

Oh, and I just realised it's my blog's first birthday today. I can't believe how quickly the last year has passed!

Encaustic Art

These are some encaustic art ATCs I did a few days ago. They're the first ones I've done for a while, so I'm a bit out of practice!

Cards!

I don't make many cards any more, mainly because I find them a bit boring and would rather be experimenting and getting messy, but I wanted some special thank you cards for my son's teachers because they put up with a lot and do a fantastic job, so these are what I came up with. I wanted something quick but nice, so I decided to do some miniature encaustic art pictures and make those the main focal point, keeping the rest of the card simple. I just added some patterned papers, Prima flowers and a few other bits and pieces (and before anybody says anything, yes those are peel-offs. I was short of time. That's my excuse and I'm sticking to it!)
Oh yes, I almost forgot to say, the pictures are rubbish. This is because I finished these very late last night, and I have yet to master the art of taking digital photos in unnatuaral light!

Encaustic Art

I decided to do a couple of hours of encaustic art yesterday, which managed to turn into most of a day. (Not sure how that happened).
I made 10 encaustic ATCs, and these are the four I like best. These and the others are in my trading album (link on the top right) if anyone's interested.

(I've also made a couple of other things over the last couple of days but can't post piccies yet as it would ruin the surprise, so watch this space!)

Encaustic Art

I got the opportunity to do some encaustic art this morning, my first in a while (well, a few weeks anyway - it feels like a long time to me!) These are all ATCs, and although it doesn't show up well in the photos, the top two are on pearlescent card and have a slightly irridescent quality.

I got a good few hours so I managed to do eight altogether (I can only put 5 in one blog post). They will mostly be in a swap I've joined, but I'm trying to build up enough ATCs to finally start up a trading album, sot the rest will go in my stockpile!

I have to say a big thank you to Wendy for inspiring me to try out some new colours (the sandy ones) with her fantastic encaustic art - hers is much better than mine! I've finally managed to produce something that vaguely resembles a real landscape!

Encaustic Art

I managed to get a couple of hours to do some encaustic art yesterday. This is something I don't get to do as often as I'd like because I work in the conservatory as the light isn't very good in our house. Unfortunately this means that, for the moment at least I can only do it during the day, which can prove difficult with two young children. Roll on summer! The pictures shown are ATCs and are my two favourites of the ones I did yesterday.

I find encaustic art very difficult to photograph, and the colours never look as vibrant as they do in real life, even with adjustments, so these are actually a lot more colourful than they look, especially the bottom one.
