Cardz 4 Galz: Dragonflies

Today is my turn to choose the challenge at Cardz 4 Galz, and I've chosen the theme of dragonflies.

I started off by creating the background of my card, which I made using Distress Oxide inks.  I dabbed the inks onto a craft mat and spritzed with water., then put my paper down onto it, drying with a heat gun and repeating until I was happy with how it looked, then I splashed it with water and dried with the heat gun again several times.  Finally I spritzed it lightly with mica spray for a bit of sparkle.

I layered the background onto pearlescent card and die cut the dragonflies from the same card.  The I die cut them again from vellum and stuck the vellum wings onto the original die cuts, shaped them and added some glitter.  To finish my card I added some gems and pearls and a die cut tag.  I stamped the sentiment on the tag with Versamark ink and embossed it with glitter embossing powder.

I hop you can join this week's challenge at Cardz 4 Galz

Cardz 4 Guyz: Architecture

Good morning. Today's challenge at Cardz 4 Guyz is architecture.  I struggled a bit with knowing what to do for this one, and finally settles on this stamp by Paperartsy that I used to make a row of houses.  I coloured the houses in bright colours using Polychromos pencils.

This is a side hinged DL card, and I decided to make it for my brother for his birthday.

I hope you can join us this week at Cardz 4 Guyz.

Make My Monday: Autumn Colours

Hello again.  Today I amm sharing my DT card for Make My Monday.  This week's challenge is to use autumn colours.  I have to admit, these are not my favourite colours and I find it quite hard to use them.  I am however pleased with how this one turned out.

I started by making a background using Distress inks and Distress Oxides.  I did this by first applying the Distress Inks on a craft mat and then pressing a piece of Kraft card down on top of the ink.  Then I dried the inks using a heat gun and repeated this step using the Distress Oxide.  I then splashed water onto the card and dried it with a heat gun, repeating this step until I was happy with the effect.

I dried my card off, then ironed it between two Teflon Sheets to give a flat surface to stamp on.  Then I stamped the flowers in Versamark Ink and embossed them using Wow! black sparkle embossing powder.   The stamps are by Paperartsy and are some of my acquisitions from the Happy Stampers Festival in May (I'm going again in October and still haven't used everything I bought at the last one!)

I painted the stamped flowers with white gesso, then left my card to dry overnight (I hate this step because I'm very impatient).  The next day I coloured the flowers with Polychromos pencils, and layered my stamped image onto brown card and a Kraft 6x6 card blank.

I hope you can join in the fun at Make My Monday.

Cardz 4 Galz: Welcome Little Baby

Good morning!   Today's challenge at Cardz 4 Galz  is to make a baby card.  Obviously, this being Cardz 4 Galz it needs to be for a baby girl.

I used a cute stamp by Lili of the Valley for this card, which I stamped in grey ink so it wouldn't stand out too much against the pastel colours of the card.

I stamped my image onto a die cut circle and coloured it with Polychromos pencils.  Then I mounted it onto a pink fancy circle die cut.  I layered the mounted image onto coordinating patterned papers and added some baby buttons and a ribbon to embellish it.

I hope you can join our challenge this week at Cardz 4 Galz.

Cardz 4 Guyz: Nature

Hello everyone.  Today's challenge at Cardz 4 Guyz is nature.

I wanted to make a messy background for this one, so I started off making a background with Walnut Brown Distress Oxide ink, then used a tree stencil with Distress Inks and inked over the top.  I die cut the mushrooms using a die by Marianne Designs, which is one of my favourites, then coloured them with Polychromos pencils.

I stamped the sentiment and then added the die cut critters which I coloured using a combination of Polychromos pencils and Promarkers.  The insect dies are also by Marianne Designs.

I hope you can join us for his week's challenge at Cardz 4 Guyz.

Make My Monday: Something for a Child

Good morning!  Today's challenge at Make My Monday is to make something for a child.  For this week's DT card I decided to go right out of my comfort zone for this one and make something very, very girly!  Those of you who have known me for a long time will know that I usually don't do girly (although I have mellowed somewhat over the years and a few more feminine things creep into my crafting from time to time now).  Pink, pastel colours, glitter and a unicorn - this card has everything girly that I could think of.

I used a digi stamp by Some Odd Girl for this card, and coloured it using Polychromos pencils.  I added glitter too the mane, tail, hooves, eye and horn.  I layered my image onto patterned papers and added some die cut stars.  I then added some glitter to the stars.  The sentiment is stamped and embossed using a glitter Wow! embossing power.

I hope you can join us this week at Make My Monday.
