Gothic Arches: Turquoise

This is my entry for this week's Gothic Arches challenge on the theme of Turquoise. I created the background by crumpling up some paper, inking it in two colours and spritzing it with water. I dried it with my heat gun and then ironed it flat. I stamped over the background in white with a lace stamp, although this doesn't show up well in the photo, and stamped some flourishes around the edges in turquoise. I then stamped my main image on a separate piece of card, tore around the edges and coloured it with inks. I layered the image onto the arch on top of some shimmery mesh, coloured the lace and flowers using inks and then added the lace, fibres, butterfly and flowers.

I Dare You Swap: Katherine's Challenge

This is what I made for Katherine for Nicks' I Dare You swap (details below). Katherine's challenge to me was to create something using hand drawn elements only. I have to admit, I struggled a bit with this one (I think it was the "only" bit that did it!)

I decided on a gothic arch as I wanted to do something bigger than an ATC but without it being TOO big (because I was scared). The lady in the middle is a pencil drawing and I've inked around her to brighten her up a bit. The flowers and vines around the edges are drawn in ink and coloured using Sharpie pens and I drew the individual petals of the large flower at the bottom and then inked them and stuck them together to make the flower. The swirls and the tiny butterfly at the bottom are also drawn in ink and coloured with Sharpie pens.

Gothic Arches Again

These are my last two (for the time being anyway). The top one has an inked background with printed images, mesh, lace and fabric trim and a Makin's Clay sun painted with acrylic paint.

The bottom one is made using various Paperartsy stamps with a Distress Ink background.

More Gothic Arches

I made these last night. I've really enjoyed doing them, and I think they're in danger of becoming another new addiction! I've decided to experiment a bit and do each one in a different colour and theme. I'm still struggling a bit though as my brain's stuck in ATC mode.

Gothic Arches: A First Attempt

This is my first ever attempt at a gothic arch, and is (possibly) for a hosted swap I've joined. I'm not sure whether I like it or not. I suffered a bit of an "OMG, how do I fill all this space?" moment about halfway through (I think I've got too used to doing ATCs), and I think that consequently it has a bit of an identity crisis! I'm planning on doing a few more anyway, so watch this space.
