Think Monday Think ATC - Rock Music

This week's theme on Think Monday Think ATC is rock music. Despite the fact that I am a big rock fan, I have got no stamps, images or anything else in my ATC stash relating to rock music, so I had to improvise with this one!

I created the background using a leopard print stamp, first inking the card in bright colours, then stamping the background in Versamark and clear embossing it. I then painted over it in black acrylic, left it to dry, put a piece of paper over the top and ironed off the embossed image. I really wanted to use a silhouette for my main image but struggled to find one that was just right, so I found an image of a guitar player, coloured over it with a black Sharpie and cut it out. The word "rock" was typed in Word and printed out, then I inked it, cut out the letters and mounted them on black. I added a chipboard star which I inked to match the background and some bright coloured gems.

Think Monday Think ATC - Ice Blue

This is my ATC for this week's Think Monday Think ATC, the theme of which is ice blue. I decided to use the colour but do a non-icy ATC, plus the shell stamps were sitting in my drawer unused, which wasn't right!

It's an inked and stamped background, with a bit of Cosmic Shimmer spray which doesn't show up too well in the photo. The rest of it is a collage made from various printed images.

Think Monday Think ATC: Cloth and Paper

This is my entry for this week's TMTA on the theme of Cloth and Paper. I wanted to create a traditional looking Christmas ATC for this one.

The main image is a gel medium image transfer onto linen. (The linen an offcut from the bottom of some too-long curtains that I bought a few years ago, and it's proved to be extremely useful.) I'm quite pleased with how soft the transfer has turned out as I think it suits the look of the ATC. The background is a printed image of some Christmas music, which I've coloured using distress inks. I added some printed papers at the corners, some sparkly mesh and a strip of printed paper along the bottom. Then I layered on the main image and some fabric holly leaves with some stick on gems for the berries. Finally I added the star brad at the bottom, and the words which I made using a Dymo label maker.

Think Monday Think ATC - Purple

This week's theme on TMTA is purple. I love purple and I got a bit carried away and ended up making three.

The one on the left is the first one I did, and I ended up rescuing it after it went wrong. I did an emboss resist background and originally stamped the image over it. Unfortunately it didn't show up because both the image and the background are a bit too detailed, so I embossed the image over the top. I still didn't like it because the detail on the image didn't show up very well when I embossed it, so I stamped it on acetate and layed it over the top, slightly offset from the embossed image so the embossing shows through a bit.

The top right one is aluminium which I've coloured with alcohol inks and embossed freehand, bent over the edges then sanded over the top. I've layered it onto aluminium mesh and card which I've coloured using reinkers dripped onto a baby wipe and pressed the card onto it. (It gives a lovely blended colour effect but if you ever do this, make sure you wear gloves, unless you want to spend the next two weeks with purple hands!) I've also added some tiny purple gems to finish it off.

Th one on the bottom right again has an emboss resist background, but on this one I've used a less detailed background stamp and have stamped the image straight on top. I've added a metal flower and some flower brads which I've coloured using alcohol inks, and have added a bit of Stickles around the edges.

Think Monday Think ATC: Angels

These are my ATCs for this week's challenge on TMTA.

This week's theme is Angels. I couldn't decide whether to do a stamped angel or whether to use a Victorian angel picture, so I decided to do one of each.

The stamped ATC has a background made using resist embossing, distress inks and water.

The Victorian angel ATC has an inked and stamped background, lace and printed images, and also a flourish stamped and embossed with sparkle embossing powder which doesn't show up very well in the scan.

Think Monday Think ATC - Staples

This is my ATC for this week's TMTA. The theme is staples. - some staples must be included somewhere on the ATC. I enjoyed this challenge as I've never used staples on an ATC before.

I created the background for this one using gesso and distress inks and stamped some text onto it. I layered on some text from a book page and some mesh (also coloured with distress inks), then stapled down the side. I distressed the staples, the brad and the metal heart using distress embossing powder and a Sharpie Pen to create the illusion of rust, then added the various elements.

(Sorry for the poor quality picture. I've scanned it so it's a bit blurry in places. I'll try and get a better one tomorrow when I've had time to read the instructions for my new camera!)

Think Monday Think ATC - Trick or Treat

This week's challenge on TMTA is Trick or Treat.

I started by inking the background with distress inks, spritzing it with wate adn heat drying it, then I stamped the cobwebs in Versamark and dabbed some Cosmis Shimmer powders onto them, takign the excess off with a sponge. I then stamped the house, the owls and the spiders in balck ink. I drew the ghost on a separate piece of card and stuck him in the window, stamped the skeleton onto a piece of white card and cut him out, and added a hand drawn witch's hat and hair made from fibres. Finally I printed out the words, cut them out and stuck them on.

Think Monday Think ATC: Coffee

This is my ATC for this week's challenge on Think Monday Think ATC, the theme for which is coffee. I struggled a bit with this one as it's not the kind of thing I usually do, but I like a challenge.
This is quite a simple ATC which I made mainly with printed images. The background is a print of a vintage coffee advert, which I've aged using real coffee, so it smells nice! I added some distress ink around the edges and the images of the cup of coffee and coffee beans. I wanted it to look natural and textured, so I've added some bark behind the circle of coffee beans.

Think Monday Think ATC: Homophones

This week's theme on TMTA is Homophones - words that sound the same but have different meanings. It seems I'm in a silly mood today, so I've chosen the words Mynah and miner. I think the helmet suits him!

The background is collaged bits and pieces with texturising medium painted through sequin mesh at the corners. I painted over the whole lot with gesso then inked it and added a bit of Radiant Rain Spray in a couple of places and a bit of Stickles at the corners. I then added my image, which is three separate images pieced together, and the words which I printed out and inked around the edges.

Think Monday Think ATC - Handwriting

This is my ATC for this week's challenge on Think Monday Think ATC, the theme of which is handwriting.

I started by making an alcohol inked background with a bit of silver mixative, then stamped the handwriting background in teal Stazon ink. I added the paper at the corners, (which also has handwriting on it but it doesn't show up very much on the finished ATC), stamped the postmarks then added the main image, the bus ticket, and the tag which I've coloured using inks. I hand wrote the word "Beautiful" on the tag and added some fibres through the top. Finally I added the button at the top right, which also has fibres threaded through it.

Think Monday Think ATC: Dancing

This week's theme on TMTA is Dancing, and I couldn't resist using my dancing skelton stamp for this.

The background is one I made a while ago using Twinkling H2Os and clingfilm. It has some shiny bits which unfortunately don't show up very well in the picture. I stamped the cobwebs on the background and stuck the musical notes over the top then inked around the edges. The skeleton is stamped on white card and cut out. I stuck him on and put the star in his hand as I think he looks like he should be holding something. Finally I added the mesh and fibres down the side and the words "Born to Dance".

The skeleton and cobwweb stamps are both by Cherry Pie.

Think Monday Think ATC - Architecture

My little boy decided to have a sleep this afternoon and I managed to get a bit of ATC time, so I made this ATC for this week's Think Monday Think ATC challenge on the theme of architecture. I love gargoyles, so I had to use one for this challenge!

Think Monday Think ATC: Colourful

This week's theme on Think Monday Think ATC is colourful, so here's my bright and funky ATC. I've been dying to try something along these lines for ages, so it was just the inspiration I needed.The background is inked with painted flowers which I've outlined with a black pen. The face and hands are printed images and all the other bits are drawn and cut out. The writing is done by hand.

Think Monday Think ATC - Hands

This week's challenge on Think Monday Think ATC is Hands. The hand is a stamped image and I've masked it and inked and stamped around it, then coloured some of the details on the hand using ink from the same inkpads and stuck on some tiny gems and the words down the side.

Think Monday Think ATC - Black and White

This week's challenge on Think Monday - Think ATC is black and white. I usually use a lot of colour in my work, so I find monochrome quite difficult (although I do enjoy doing it). I've decided to do a stamped collage for this one.

Think Monday - Think ATC

This week's challenge on TMTA is Walpurgisnacht (night of the witches). I've made the witch by assembling various bits of Paperartsy stamps (and a little bit of drawing). The background is Versamark resist using distress inks (sponged on) and a Cherry Pie cobweb stamp.

Think Monday - Think ATC

I decided to have a go at the TMTA challenge this week. The theme is mermaids and sea sprites.

I created the background using Twinkling H2Os and clingfilm then added a bit of irridescent embossing powder in green and blue. At the bottom I created a rock using scrunched up tissue paper with silver acrylic paint and a bit of green embossing powder and glitter glue, added some seaweed made from fibres, some sandpaper and some real pebbles and driftwood. The mermaid and fish are printed images, and the shells preserving her modesty are hand drawn on white paper. I've also added a bit of green mesh at the top (well, I do have to use mesh on everything at the moment!) Finally I added a bit of Stickles glitter glue to make it look a bit more magical.
